Muscular Strengthening Effect by Cross Training

Abstract
To evaluate the cross training effects for muscular strengthening isokinetic exercise were performed in 24 healthy adults. Only the right knee extensor and flexor muscles were trained by 60 de gree/sec angular velocity for eight weeks. Both the trained knee extensor and flexor muscular strength were increased significantly, but the relationship between the strength and angular velocity was inverse. Untrained left knee extensor muscular strengh was increased only within the slower angular velocity compared with preexercise strength. Any significant muscular strength increase was not found in untrained knee flexor muscles. These results might suggest that cross training effects was not due to a neural factor, but a environmental factor.
